Timothy Archbold, cellist, was raised in regional Australia in Castlemaine, Central Victoria. He received a Bachelor of Music Performance with Honours from the University of Melbourne in 2002. In December 2007, Timothy completed his studies at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, Germany and his Masters in Music Performance from Wichita State University in 2010. Timothy has been a principle cellist of the Australian Youth Orchestra, the Australian National Music Camp Orchestra, the Melbourne Youth Orchestra, the Geminiani Orchestra (Melbourne), the Melbourne University Orchestra, the Victorian College of the Arts Orchestra, the Bremen Hochschule Orchestra, the Launders Bremen Jungen Orchestra; and has played with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, Wichita Grand Opera Orchestra, and Oldenburg City Orchestra in Germany, Orchestra Victoria, Melbourne and Sydney Symphony Orchestras. Timothy has also performed many solo recitals throughout Victoria and the Wichita area, and won numerous awards. During his time in Germany, Timothy also studied at the Hannover Hochschule for Music and Theater under Hatto Beyele and the Karol Szymanowski Quartet studying and performing chamber music with the Aquila Quartet. While in Wichita he played with the Bloomfield String Quartet, soloed and led the Wichita State University Orchestra, and played in many chamber ensembles. Timothy is currently freelancing in the Chicago area and performs with the Northwest Indiana Symphony and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. |
Karen Archbold, flutist and mezzo soprano, received her undergraduate in music performance with an emphasis in flute performance. She then moved to Bremen, Germany where she studied voice at the Hochschule für Künste with Thomas Mohr. Karen recently appeared as Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw, Berthe in Barber of Seville, and Buttercup in HMS Pinafore. Karen’s recent solo appearances include Verdi's Requiem with the Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra, Alto Soloist in Elijah and in Mozart's Vespers, as well as Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Bremerhaven Orchestra, John Rutter’s Magnificat, and Lili Boulanger’s Psaume De Profundis. She has also sung the Verdi Requiem with the Wichita Symphony and the Mahler Kindertotenlieder with the Masterworks Festival Orchestra. As a flutist she soloed several times with the Winfield Regional Symphony and was a recipient of the George B. Tack Award for Excellence. |
